Power Heads VS Pond Pumps

Is a 1 minute spray time too long?

NO AT ALL! lol You shouldn't be misting for less time than one minute. It is just a ploy to sound like the timer is better.... it's sorta like when you order cable internet and cable TV and the sales person tells you they'll throw in a home phone for a few bucks more.... but you already have a cell phone. Sure you can have a phone at home for more money... even though you'll almost never need it.

I don't mist for anything less than 5 minutes.

Don't use either pump! They were not designed for that application. Try the TOM Aqua lifter Aw20. It's a 3.5 GPH dosing pump. It even lists "reptile drip system" right on the box. The best part is it's cheaper than a power head or pond pump ($14.00).

oh yeah.. you can also run it wet (water pump) or dry (air pump) with out hurting it.

I run mine twice a day for a minute with a couple of .99$ air stones and a $12 brinks digital timer from Walmart.

Very nice find! I was looking for something like this for my automated drainage! I wanted to be able to add bleach to the catch bin in small amounts.

These would work perfectly for a drain system. The diaphrams do go bad in about 6 month's though if used alot. You can buy rebuild kits for $9. Take about 5 minutes to rebuild.

I use a couple of them for my auto top off system on my saltwater tank.

Do ya think bleach would destroy one of these?

Not much more then a couple of cap fulls would be needed to clean and steralize. At that low amount they will be fine. They will probably dry out over time but like I mentioned replacement diaphrams are cheap and easy to install.

It just a simple diaphram pump with two diaphrams made of rubber.

I want the ability spray less than a minute because I don’t know much my mister is going to spray and my Cham is a baby in a 12x12x18 inch cage witch does not take long to soak. Later when she is in her big cage I will probably not spray less than minute. Also it is better to have and not need than to need and not have!

I have kept babies in tubs and had a mister on top and have had it operate for 5 minutes at a time or longer, with no problems.

In nature the rain doesn't only fall for short amounts of time when babies are hatching.... You won't harm them from misting them for longer periods of time than one minute if you provide an area of the cage for the babies to escape the mist.

using an aqualifter for my drip since I had it laying around. on a analog timer to go on 3 times a day for 15-20 minutes, just drips a single drop about every 2 seconds or so for the 15-20 minutes

Misting is done with a "fogger" head from home depot and is conected with a RO/di "booster" pump(cause i had it laying around kinda) 115 psi gives a fine mist on a digital timer 4 times a day for 1 minute at a time. took the booster pump off my ro/di unit mainly because i dont meed it to make 100gpd anymore.
