Power outage, how cold is too cold?

My area has recently been subjected to a potetially long power outage. It has been 2 days already and may go for as long as 5. The good news is that it is summer time. My question is, how cold is to cold for the veiled chameleon? Right now its not too warm outside, 81 high 64 low. In the room where the chameleon is temperature is currently 76 in there and im keeping the blinds open as he is by a window. I do not have access to a generator nor can I move him to a hotel to heat him. Any suggestions to heating? I was considering taping hand warmers or heatpacks near where he sleeps lol.

I deal with power outages where it live. But it can be below 0 during a power outage here. I stock 72 hour heat packs and put my chams in a shipping box with a heat pack. I take them out daily to drink and every three days to eat a small amount.

At your temps your veiled is not in any danger. It may not be warm enough for him to digest food, so I would give him water, but very little if any food. Is there a place you can take him outside in the sunshine to warm up? He can eat if he is warmed to a temp where he can digest his food. If you can get him out into 81 degrees, he can eat.

Where are you and what kind of a temp drop are you expecting? He will be just fine at 60 for 5 days, maybe not thrilled, but completely safe.

At a previous residence, my chameleons were kept in an insulated room in the basement. One winter night, someone left the door open to the uninsulated part. In the morning, the temperature was in the mid thirties. I had not even noticed until I checked the low temp on my thermometer. I had deremensis, melleri and calyptratus. None of them seemed affected at all. Even the two week old baby veileds!

Lost all my roaches though.

I am in temperate southern New Jersey, its certainly not cold and my Chameleon is moving around still. Thank you for the food advice, if he wants to eat ill try and take him outside. He is still a little grump, and may not take to kindly to the idea. My only concern is that there are a lot of birds in my area that may freak him out. Its good to know he should he okay until our power is restored.

P.S. Sorry about yor roaches.
