Hello, I'm new to owning chameleons, I have 2 female vieled cham's. They are about 6 months old and appear very healthy. They seem to be growing larger around the abdomen. I know they can lay infertile eggs at about that age...how long do they carry these eggs before laying them? I have a pot with soil in their enclosures for them.

it all depends on how much you feed them, temps ect. good idea leaving the soil down there. they will let you know they are ready to lay their eggs by digging/ pawing at the bottom of the cage, or being completly restless looking for a place to lay.

If you keep them cooler and cut back on the food; you can possible keep them from making eggs. Check out Raising Female Veiled in this blog:
