Pregnant/Eggbound??

I have no idea if my girl, Samba is full of eggs or not. She seems a bit lazier than usual and she looks a bit fat. In the pics below, she is probably dark because she gets pissed at my iPad. :p
But if anyone can help me find out if she needs help or not, please let me know. And if she does have eggs, will she lay them in coconut fiber substrate? that's what the person at PetSmart said...

How old is she? Has she started spending time in the bottom of the cage? Is she eating normal? These are some of the most compelling signs, at least in my limited experience. As Brownie64 mentions you really need a proper laying bin, they are extremely picky. Mine has 2 proper bins in her cage (one with soil and another one with sand so she can choose) and she still doesn't want to lay the eggs.
I would take her to the vet and have an X-ray done, no mistakes this way, you will definitely see whether she is carrying eggs or not and plan accordingly.

If you are not certain, then take her to a vet and have her xrayed. They can tell you for sure then. She does look plump to me. And don't listen to Petsmart or Petco, the majority of their employees know nothing about chameleons.

Are you using any type of substrate? It looks kinda like a veiled to me.....maybe my eyes deceive me.

Yeeeaahh.... I kinda figured they knew squat. One guy at Petco said they lay eggs in water! lol At that point I knew they had no clue.

She is about 7 months. Since I got her at Petsmart, I have no exact age though. She has not been at the bottom of her cage at all, actually. She eats normally, usually eating 7-8 waxworms and 1-3 crickets a day.
And will this work as a egg laying bin?

Most people on here would suggest no substrate at all, just paper towels as the substrate can grow mold and bacteria. As for the pregnancy, can you feel lumps if you run your fingers along the sides and bottom of her belly? If not I'd get an x-ray done to be sure. For my veild's laying bin I used half play sand and half potting soil without vermiculite, moistened enough to make a tunnel

I use coconut fiber.

If you use substrate, chams can eat it and get them constipated, making them bloated looking like that. I have had a panther eat some bark from some vines I brought in from outside and she looked chunky like that until she passed it. The turd was massive.

So does she look like she has eggs?

She does look plump, but I don't see any lumps so I can't be sure. If she keeps gaining, and starts to act restless going to the bottom of the enclosure a lot. I would definitely get that laying ben in the enclosure. If she shows these behaviors you also will want to not bother her so she will lay the eggs, and not become egg bound. Good luck :) Sorry I got back to you so late got busy.

She might not be ready then, but please don't quote me on this, I'm no expert. I have a female veiled and how I found out that she was ready was because she was really restless and spent lots of time at the bottom of the cage, she also stopped eating. Maybe yours is not ready yet but to be 100% sure take her to the vet for an x-ray.
As for the laying bin, that might be a bit small, depending how picky your cham is. Have a look at Jannb's post, she explains everything about the laying bin

Welp, turns out she's about 4 months old! :p She's just shedding b/c of growth. Plus she's eating normally and she's never at the bottom of her cage. She shows no sign of being sexually mature either. So I guess it'll be a few months yet! She is active and looks very healthy too! :D

Hey brownie64, just noticed you're in Marion, Indiana. I just drove through Marion two months ago! Should've stopped to say hi! lol
