Premature...?

Hey I havnt posted in a while as I've been really buisy with school and sports but I currently have a problem. Some of my veiled eggs are hatching but I think ther premature, they are only a bit over 5 months and the first egg that hatched wich was 2 days ago didn't make it the Cham was out of its shell but still in the sack and covered mucus, last night another egg split open and was beginning to hatch so this evening I checked and same thing the baby was out of the egg but just laying in its sack and mucus, it was only a 20 egg clutch I lowered the moms food and heat so she wouldn't lay to many and I've incubated at about 74 degrees so they wouldn't hatch to early, any advice?
Oh ya and the baby that hatched today was moving a bit but I don't think it's going to make it :(

Did you recently spray the eggs with water?
When we had our clutch of eggs, we was advised that spraying to much water can cause them to hatch early. I think it was said to be a trigger, like the rainy season in the wild.

Sorry to hear that it didn't make it, that's really sad. We lost a few of ours when we had a clutch too. I think its just nature, sometimes it happens and you did nothing wrong. Dont blame yourself.

Good luck with the rest. Im sure you will be post pictures of some perfectly happy, healthy chams in the future :) Then the fun will begin.

Premature

I'm sorry to hear that.:(

I will say that I think lowering her food intake and heat may have caused your eggs to be weak. I don't personally agree as I feel the female needs as much nutrients and vitamins as possible in order to completely lay without retaining eggs or after effects.

I just had a full clutch of 54 hatch (almost, there are 4 eggs left) at 7.2 months and all 50 were healthy, beautiful babies. I'm not sure why they are hatching so early...but I am afraid that it may be safe to assume that most may not make it.
:(

I calculated wrong, the eggs were actually a bit over 6 months old. The egg that hatched and was covered in the membrane sprung to life the next day and 2 more eggs did the same thing ( hatched, layed in mucus for Accouple hours then sprung to life). 4 more eggs hatched regular and did not lay in their sack so in Total I have 8 eggs and the rest are in the process in hatching ( sweating, caving in). The 8 babies seem to be healthy exept theirs 1 problem they don't seem to he eating that much. In the morning I will put in about 30 fruit flies and I don't really see them eating, I've seen them pick off a couple but not to many. When I throw another 30 or so flies in at about 3 or 4 pm their is only a couple of the remaining 30 flies so I guess their eating some then, their is Also poops in the cage but not to many maybe 15 or so poops. They are drinking fine. And the first 2 hatched a week ago and are still verry active. Is this normal for them to be slow eaters in the beginning or to be shy or scared when I'm around. this breeding has had so many problems, last time I bred whether it was panthers or veileds it was so much more easy. These 2 parents and all the babies are stubborn lol
