Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

She was a good girl about it, but she was gaping quite a bit so I just popped it in her mouth and gave her a bit to realize it was there before ejecting

Well I guess that's a plus . I know this is so sad for you . Your really doing a great job with her . Your a brand new keeper too chameleon she's very lucky to have some one so very attentive especially being a new keeping .

She had another dose of medication this morning, and had her first dose of 50/50 pedialyte a few minutes ago. I gave her .2ml and will give another .2ml later today.
She's very lethargic but still holding on, her grip is still good, she did not like her misting this morning.

Very nice morning, took her out and put her in the small maple tree. Her enthusiasm is missing but she seems content

I haven't seen any more open mouth breathing since last night

You will know when she's feeling better when she Swats that you ;) . This will take time !!. Keeping her hydrated and taking her meds are what's needed . Excellent on grip !!. I'm so happy she's hanging in there .

Thank you guys for the support!

She's gotten the strength to be a little bit more mobile now. She was moving around the tree pretty well, and she moved to a new spot in her enclosure

Her color is looking a lot better than last night. She was a pale yellow color which is why I was as upset as I was, in addition to mouth breathing, but she's been green all day, turning a little darker when outside.

The sun has changed positioning so I'm going to take her out again before running some errands

Sun is incredibly important for her during right now, so it's wonderful that you can take her out. It's so good for healing when they have natural uvb. Sadly the extra stress of regular medication will make her feel worse for a bit until the RI is under control a bit more and then once she starts fighting you more and gets her sass back you will wish she is easier to medicate, but you will know she is on the way to recovery. I have seen this a lot with my rehabs.... I have been bitten by my more sassy rehabs when they started feeling better and I have cried before with relief when that has happened, because sometimes I take ones in where I am not sure I can save them but I know if I do that they will have a normal life for however long they are alive.

I cannot wait until the sass returns. She doesn't even get angry at my phone, she just wants to rest, so I'm trying to leave her be, but I'm constantly checking up on her

Alright quick concern.
I just went to give her more pedialyte, and I was going to give just .1ml, the syringe was filled with .2ml, and the stupid syringe just shot gunned all of it at her throat.
She seems OK, but now I'm worried she inhaled some

Was it completely down her throat? Her trachea is under her tongue, as long as it didn't pool in her mouth she is fine. She likely didn't inhale any, but you will start seeing symptoms in a couple hours or so likely.

Ok, I wasn't sure if I was understanding their anatomy correctly.
It all went right down the throat in a burst, nothing pooled.
She is mouth breathing now, but is still responsive and green

How the little girl doing . It's been a few hours . Did you get her back out side ? The natural UVB will do her wonders .
