preparing plants?

so I went to 2 local garden centers today, and bought a ficus and a schefflera. But could not get hold of any organic potting soil. I came home and looked online and found some for £2 with £60 shipping from the US (I'm in the UK). I've looked for an hour or so and cant really find any in the UK.

So the question is, is there an alternative? And/or is it completely necsessary?

No, not necessary. The alternative would be to put river rocks or large pebbles over the soil so your chameleon won't consume it. I personally don't cover up my soil but I do use organic soil, so if they do eat it at least there aren't fertilizers of the little while things in it. So if you can find rocks (or even some type of mesh, or canvas, you can really use whatever) just use those. The rocks have to be enough enough that they cannot be swallowed, though.

what about fertilizers in it not harmfull for chams to chew on i ask because my plants not looking as grea since i repotted.

Excellent, I'll try and get some river rocks this week and cover the soil. And I should be all ready for my Ambanja. Its getting so close now. :D I'm like a little kid at christmas. Honestly I feel giddy lol
