Problem with dusted crickets

So my 4 month old veiled chameleon for some odd reason he won't really eat his dusted crickets. I don't know if it's because they are white bc of the calcium and he doesn't think it's a cricket? I don't know. It takes me forever to get him convinced that it is a cricket. He will eventually eat them but only some.
Like this morning he only ate 3 of the 5 I offered but when it's a normal brown cricket he eats it with no problem.

I always thought the term "dusting" was an odd term, although it makes perfect intuitive sense, of course , because like after you put the powdered supplements or whatever on them they DO have a layer of "dust" literally on them. But still, "dusting" just has this connotation for me, like airplains crop dusting barren dust bowl fields with poison, or pcp freaks tweaking out on dust in dark dirty alleys. Does anyone else think like that!? man. Seriously though, that's why I barely use any dust myself. I also don't put very much powdered supplement at all on my chameleons crickets either, I just put it on the crickets food instead.

You know what else, I think I'm going to stop calling it dusting. Because man that is freaking me out. I mean just say that word a few times. dust. Dust. DUst. DuST. is that even a real word, seriously. I'm going to think of, come up with, and set out on a campaign to change the common jargon from "dusting" to like "awesomizing" or "vitaminification".
I'll get back with you on this.

How much are you putting on the crickets? You could try dusting them a little less and see if he likes them better.

I agree. Try dusting with just a little vitamin powder and see if he will take a better liking to them. I've been told the vitamin can add a sort of bitter taste or just a flavor they don't favor. I mean, it makes sense. Imagine trying to eat your food coated in a layer of powdered vitamins/calcium! Good Luck!

You are dusting too much. Your crickets should be a slightly lighter color brown and not completely white.

Sometimes they get bored with the same feeder insect. If you can, you can alternate with other insects like waxworm, dubia roach, mealworm, superworm and silkworm.
