Progress for Zeppelin.

Yes the fishing wire going up to the top ( who's post did you see this on ) by that method you are taking your cham closer to the light ( as they will climb this ) to the lights you are raising away from him so counterproductive
So a chameleon could climb fishing line? You would think it’s too slick.

It would surprise you what and where they can get I've seen it at start of last year I would have said the same .can you post a couple of pictures 2moro of the top of your enclosure with the door open to see the best way to lower your top branches and vines .this is just the way I started . One structured piece at a time but all supporting each other. Hey lol just like this forum. Good night usa . See ya 2moro.

Okay, so you have a T5 HO fixture (it’s 22” not 24”, which is the measurement of the T8 bulb on Zoo Med’s website), so you’ll raise the bulb 11-12” from his basking branch

If you decide to get either the T5 HO Arcadia 6% or Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 bulbs, the distance will only be 8-9” from bulb to branch. @Mendez has a really cool PVC frame that he uses to raise his lights! The more usable space for a chameleon in his/her cage, the better, so try to raise the bulb instead of lowering the branch if possible

Off topic sweet motorcycle!

Here's my setup for raising lights off the top of the cage:

The pvc frame is pretty simple to make as long as you have a drill and pvc cutters. The frame is about the same size as the cage. You want the weight of the frame to sit on the aluminum frame and not the screen--though isn't necessary for holding single bulbs. The quad fixture I'm using is pretty heavy, so I made sure it sits on the frame.

I put hooks along the top so I can hang lights.

--The cable I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZB65Z3D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've never used the frame to hang a single linear uvb fixture before though. You could get 4 cables and drill four holes into the fixture to hook them onto (see drawing below). But otherwise it might be difficult. If you go this route, you would need to remove the bulb from the fixture. Then you would need to drill the holes in the corners without bending the fixture. You would need to hold your fingers on the inside to keep the drill bit from pushing into the frame. If you aren't comfortable with threading the drill bit in between your fingers on the otherside, I wouldn't recommend this method. It will work, but it requires a decent amount of DIY which can be annoying to some, including myself at times.

I will tomorrow while he’s awake. I acquired more sticks from my grandma today. No pesticides and made sure they were cham safe.

I’ll be spending time tomorrow destroying his cage and building it back up lol!

That’s incredible! You seem to be pretty crafty. I’ll look into doing that or finding ways to raise them.

I really like being able to allow him access to all his cage. I have boxes I can stack the lights on until time being.

just wanted to show everyone zeppelins favorite sleeping spot. Thank all you guys so much. It’s sometimes a bit scary to come on here and take advice. I don’t want to be seen as someone who neglects their animals! I’ve been trying super hard and chameleons are a huge step up from the leopard geckos I own. It gets confusing at times but I take all the advice I can. Thank you guys so much.

You are far from someone who neglects your animals! You are on here day-in and day-out learning and taking (helpful and potentially unhelpful) advice--and after all that--you still ask questions to increase your knowledge! That takes guts! It shows that you are willing to do whatever it takes to give your little guy a good life.

I remember when I was a new member to the forums. I was afraid of getting ridiculed for how I kept my chameleon. The forum back then had a bit of a sorted past with some members giving unconstructive criticism. That's what scared me. I didn't want to face that reality myself, so I waited for people like you to have the same question. The questions you ask gives rise to people like me who are too scared to ask or just passing through looking for some info, so for that, I thank you! The members who are currently dominating this forum are really nice people, but at the time I was unsure.

Keep asking questions and never stop learning. You are definitely on the right track!

People like you are the reason I'm where I am right now. I never want to go back to when I was scared to ask questions or learn things publically. So just keep it up. We are all here for you!

Thank you! Seeing that this community is full of amazing people who can constructively criticize with out being mean is great. Long ago I was part of a leopard gecko Facebook group and it was ruthless. You’d almost get mocked out of the group! So seeing people who can come together and help is really heart warming, especially on the internet.

Today I plan on repotting the new plants and redoing zeppelins cage. I’ll be removing all fake plants finally! Jagras my other cham isn’t going to be redone until his bigger enclosure comes. Which should be in a few days! I’ll update and post pictures here in a bit.

Wow exciting 😃so basically let your imagination go branches up down left right back front diagonally. Lots of super cham highways in the majority of my girls enclosure she has lots of options where to go which I feel in mentally beneficial. Can't wait to see 😍 👌

I FINALLY got the plants done. I’ll be taking a break for a bit before I go to my chameleons cage. I’m only working with one arm so it took a lot of patience but I did it 😂. I was even lucky and got 4 pothos plants out of 3.

it was fun but now I’m pooped.

On another note I have some Pots I can use to raise the UVB strips. I’ll see about that here in a bit.

Now i’m too curious, my curiosity was already started and thought it wasn’t suited to ask, but one arm?? Accident and temporary or.....??? Sorry for asking 🤗

No it’s fine! I fell off a cliff on a dirt bike lol! Kicked it into second gear on accident and it flew right off, if you get bike lingo lol!

Its temporary but it’ll take awhile to heal. I have a really bad sprain in my elbow and elbows take awhile to heal. I’ve already gotten a lot better than I was a week ago when it first happened. Hopefully I can start working this weekend.

Okay, that’s pretty %*# and yes elbows heal up terrible.

Hopefully you’re back on track swiftly, wish you quickest and full recovery.

Enjoy watching your progress and enthusiasm 👌🏻👌🏻 and that for only at half strength 😛💪🏻
