Pushing out the eyes

these past couple days I've noticed my chameleon jade push her eyes outward when she does it they look like their bout to come out of her head . She doesn't look or act sick more does she have any signs of bein sick her cage temps stay 80 to 84 in the basking end and in the mid 70s on the cool side. Her colors good and she eats really good (she's a pig) and she drinks good as well. Her cage is the exo terra screen enclosure 24x18x24 she has plenty of branches to climb on and she does but she also trys to climb higher by climbing on the side of the cage. I use all exo terra lighting fixtures and lights ,the lights I use are the daylight basking bulb 100 watt and the tropical UVB 2.0 by exo terra. if any one can put their insight on this I would apprieciate it thanks

She's just cleaning her eyes. Mine do this sometimes if I spray their eyes directly.

100watts is very hot, especially for a female, unless you want to shorten her lifespan. Warmer temperatures = more egg laying, which results in less time to live!

Sounds like she may have some debris in her eye that shes trying to clear out. Try and give her a warm shower in the tub. Place her on a plant, and aim the shower head against the wall, to allow the over spray to mist her for about 15-20 mins.

To obtain 80-84 degrees with a 100 watt bulb is pretty uncommon. Either you live in a very cold climate, or your temperature guage is inaccurate. How and what do you use to measure your temps?

I also noticed that you are using a 2.0 for your UVB output, 2.0's are commonly used for plants and on some occasions used for small pygmy chameleons. They do not penetrate very deep into the cage, which could be why shes spending so much time climbing the top of the cage. Repalce it with a 5.0 Repti-Sun LINEAR tube and see if theres an improvment.

Edit: I am using a 40 watt incadesent house bulb in my enclosures to keep temps 83-87 here in Southern California.

I use the flukers digital thermo and hygro and my house stays at around 74 and it reads 82 to 84 all day in the cage theirs no signs of dehydration can u find a 5.0 that fits the cage size I have 24x18x24 I would post pics but I can't cause I do all this from an iphone I live in Texas so air condisioning is a requirment to live good here I also have a snake and the temps stay the same in her cage too and I use the same flukers device in her cage too

The location of the thermometer is important too. If it has a probe you should put it in the closest point to the basking bulb that the chameleon can access.

My BF and I are in Texas, we are located in Lubbock (b/c we attend Texas Tech University). 100W in Texas is a bit much for a chameleon. I use a 60 watt house bulb for our basking lights. Go to http://lllreptile.com/ and you can find the Reptisun 5.0 UVB LINEAR tube light that is at the right length for your cage. Generally you can find a fixture at Walmart or Home Depot if you are having a hard time finding the right size. As for the eyes bulging, your cham may have something stuck in it's eyes. If it continues after following Jay's advice, there are people on this forum who can walk you through how to flush your cham's eyes. If you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself, you can always take your chameleon to the vet and have them do it for you.

I switched the light to the reptisun 5.0 today like you guys said and it did help with her climbing on the top of the cage thanks
