Putting chams outside-temp

I was cleaning off some plant roots to repot so I took my girls outside with the thermometer. With the sun shining directly on the therm. it was 102. I increased the shade portion of the cages, misted them well and put the therm. inside where it dropped to 89. Should I bring them inside? I always mist them well every hour when I have their cages outside. There is plenty of shade inside the cage. I notice that they poke their heads into the sun but keep their bodies in the shade. They are not gaping, but I don't want to cook them.

You sound like you have a good setup, so I wouldn't worry much. Provide them with shade and water, and they'll figure it out. When in doubt, more shade. You could even just drape an extra piece of screen over the cages when they're outside.

I live just a little north of you and I'm afraid to put mine out much in the summer. It so hot even early morning but sometime we can catch a couple hours late evening. Jann
