pygmy chameleon eye cleaning behavior??

Has anyone observed these guys to close their eyes and then inflate them to 2x the size and swirl fluid around in them after being sprayed with water?

I'm wondering if perhaps water getting in its eyes irritated it? I observed the tiniest strand of mucus or something hanging over the eye afterward so went ahead and sprayed this individual again...prompting the same behavior. Over the next few hours the eyelid at first was puffier than the other side but soon returned to normal.

The others certainly don't appreciated being sprayed-so I'm wondering if it is even good for them.

I've seen a few people mention flushing the eyes with saline on here for debris and the like...is this simply contact solution?

Saline is

A salt water solution..

Just use table salt and water..

Boil 100 ml of water and then add 2-5 gram of salt.

Allow to cool down to room temp.

I used the single-use preservative-free artificial tears when my chameleon had an eye injury (until I could get her to the vet).
