Hello!
My local Petco just got in two tiny chameleons which they have labeled "dwarf stub tail chameleons" but they look exactly like pictures of Pygmy Chameleons that I have seen. Anyway, I sort of fell in love with them, and I might get them, but I just had a few questions.
1. They are selling them for 50 dollars each, is that a good price?
2. I've read that Pygmy chams are a bit difficult to care for, and that they have to have high humidity and a moist tank. I also own several different species of frogs, including Whites Tree Frogs, do you guys think it would be the same basic concept in terms of keeping the enclosure moist?
3. How big of a tank do they need? I was think about just getting one, but if I change my mind I will only get two at most. What size tank would be good? Petco is also selling some Zoo Med tanks, and one of them would fit perfectly on a nightstand that I have in my room. I think that it is a 12x12x12, but it might be a bit larger. Would that be too small? I think it would be, but I thought I would check.
4. I read that you can't touch these guys at all because they are very delicate. Not that I am going to handle them all of the time, but I would like to make sure I'm not going to kill them if I touch them.
5. Do they travel well? I'm in college and I usually go home for breaks, taking my animals with me. They would only spend about 2 hours tops in a car.
I think that is all of my major questions for now. I did read several care sheets, but I would rather get the answers straight from the owners.
Thanks for your help!
