Question about colours...

Youve probably all seen this thread before but im a newb to chams and am wondering something, i have a baby yemen, yoshi who is an absolute babe

Anyway when i first got him he was pretty happy alot he had a wonderful bright green colour does this mean he is happy?
I got him out yesterday to take him to enjoy the last of the british sun and he turned a horrible brown colour, with stripes and spots, then once outside went a forest green colour is he okay?
