A friend of myn has a small heater n his chameleon room and it stays 86 to 90 degrees all day and night. Is that a safe temp. To keep my room at or do I need to worry about the temp n the room as long as the cage is the right temp.

Chameleons need a drop in temperature at night to slow their metabolism. Keeping it that warm at night is not beneficial.

Well the day time temp will depend on the type of chameleon. I try tho keep ambient room temp in the mid to low 70's. The basking temp can be raised to the appropriate level and the lower ambient room temp allows them to thermoregulate as needed on their own. A temperature gradient is very important.
