Question on Goliath Worms

Hey everyone, I have a question regarding hornworms. As I have heard recently there is no need to dust silkworms with calcium because they are loaded with it......are hornworms the same as far as calcium enriched?

I was at a local pet shop today and saw a plastic jar of them and decided to give them a shot. My male really likes them.

I also just ordered some silkies today but no one carries them locally. I have to order them online. If by chance Hornworms have the same calcium content I might just get them.

Thanks for the info in advance
chris

Hornworms contain

Protein: 9%
fat: 3.07%
Calcium: 46.4mg/100g
Moisture: 85%

Hornworms are not as high in calcium as silkworms. I only dust hornworms if my guys havent had a dusted feeder in a couple days.

One great benefit of silkworms is that they contain an enzyme called serrapeptase which can make calcium absorption more efficient and can reduce inflammation and pain.

Hornworms are great for hydration and typically make up around 20% of my chameleons diets.

Silkies and horned are great for hydration. If keeping chams outdoors, i definitely recommend feeding them all summer long. A great preventative method. If you have a sick or diarrhea cham, also. Anyway you look at it, these guys should be involved in your diet. I swear by both. The one thing ALL my chams will eat.
