im thinking about getting hibiscus palnts to put in my cham cages.i know that they have been sprayed with insect killing soap but not sure if they were sprayed with anything at the nursery before we got them.just curious if there is a way to clean them so they will be safe for my chams or would it be better not to even mess with them? thanks for yalls time

I have bought plants from nurseries & home depot/lowes. I left the plants outside for a few weeks and sprayed the leaves off every other day (don't want to overwater) and my cham has been fine.

I even had aphids eating the hibiscus and used the insecticidal soap (the one that says you can use it up to the day before harvest). I left that outside for a week after spraying it. It was rained on and showered by me at least once a day.

No problems so far.

Just make sure the plants are safe for them =)

That's all I did. I have a pothos plant in Kukui's cage and I used soap once a day for a week. I have an outside hibiscus plant that he sometimes goes out onto and that one isn't treated, but it isn't a perma plant - just something for once or twice a week. I would advise taking some large rocks and putting them in the dirt, just in case your cham tries to hunt while in the plant. That way he doesn't accidently ingest any dirt.

i appreciate yalls help..id b lost without the forums..i have been using fake hanging plants for a long time and there very hard to keep clean. and i figure a live plant is better for them anyway...thanks agian yall
