Question on tree

I was wondering if cherry trees are still dangerous even if they have been dead for a long time? I had cut one perfectly for zillas cage but I don't want to put it in untill I get some expert advice. Also is wild beaked moss known to carry parasites? I have some I'd like to add to my chameleon cages.

Cherry stones contain several toxins and some of those may be carried into the branches, too. But as long as your chameleon doesn't nibble the bark or tries to eat whole branches, I wouldn't worry about using them inside chameleon cages. Walking on cherry wood doesn't harm ;). It surely can be harmful for e.g. rodents which get in contact with toxins by gnawing on branches, that's probably where the idea comes from.

Lol wish I would of checked this earlier I just cut down a poplar tree. I might use both. I'll just cover the stick with polyurethane incase he would happen to lick it and get some in his mouth..
