Just a general question.. I have my Cham set up "near" a window and he gets some direct sun, he seems to keep going to the side of the cage that is closest..

So a general question.. any reason I cannot place his cage in the window where he will have direct sun, It will get kind of hot..so worried would over heating be a issue?
yes it is a large screen enclosure..

He does have LOTS of live plants and cover for shade.. but may be nice to let nature provide the basking areas? I of couse provide UVB ligting I do know that the window, plus the screen will equal nada for UVB.. but with the summer commming, would be nice to cut down on the electric bill..

I live in new england and the window is acually a french door on the side of the house that gets most of the sun.. My orchid collection used to THRIVE there.. when we don;t have AC that part of the house stays at least 75 in the summer, I gotten naturally temps in the 80-90 by that window..

The suns rays don't pass through glass. So, as long as the window is open sunlight is always the best option.
As long as there is a shaded area your cham can go to, you shouldn't have to worry about your cham overheating.

Yes, it will need to be unfiltered sun, so not through glass.

A lot of newer screen materials are made to block UVB as well. ;/
So that could be an issue.

Sun coming through glass does get extremely hot as well, so just be careful, and monitor temps.
