Hello, last week I had purchased a veiled chameleon and tonight was the second time his eye rapidly swelled in 10 minutes from being normal to extremely swollen (first picture) after he rubbed it on branches for 12 minutes the swelling quickly went down (second picture). Five minutes after the second picture, his eye is almost completely back to normal. Does anyone know what causes this as it is the second time in one week with it being on the same eye both times. Any inpu

They puff the eyes up to clean them. As long gone as it goes back down its normal. If he keeps doing it you may want to very gently with a fine mist spray the eye in case something isnstuck in it.

I am not an expert (actually I'm a first time cham owner) but i read somewhere that if it puffs up after he rubs it, that it means he has a vitamin A deficiency:confused:

but I'm not sure. i would get that checked out.

Thank you, I was concerned it was a sinus infection due to how large it was, but that wouldn't dissappear and re appear a few days later?

I believe it was swollen because he was rubbing it against something. As long as they don't stay swollen you shouldn't have to worry, but if you are that worried or it becomes a constant problem you should find a vet in your area.
