Receptive colors?

This is one of my female Falys that two weeks ago had normal(?) coloration. Then about three days ago she started showing this fire orange and blue colors that really surprised me. She is about eight months old and eats like there is no tomorrow. My male is about the same age, but I think I am going to wait until they turn at least a year or more. First picture "normal" color, next two, receptive? What do you think?... IMG_3193.jpg

I would say your girl is Receptive "Last 2 Pics" & Beautiful!!! :)

Hi, thanks. I have two female Ambilobes and when they are receptive their colors are just different. The only problem with them is that my male Ambilobe is asexual...not funny at all.

My sambava male required some egging on by a jacksons chameleon before he would do the deed. Perhaps yours needs some unusual assistance?

I have try that (I have another male panther chameleon), mirrors, and try it outdoors -I put him outside in a small Walnut tree so he gets lots of sun - and nothing. He looks at the female and just wonders off the other way. He is about a little over a year and a half old. Used to be a picky eater and now eats everything I give him.

those are gravid colors , have you mated her or has she been able to see your males? if she hasnt been bred infertile clutch prolly on its way..

Should I breed her soon? She is about 8 months old. My other female Faly is about half her size, and not sure what is it with her. She eats a lot, but only the small feeders I can get.

...and with my luck my male Faly will turn out to be asexual, just like my male Ambilobe...my gaydar does not work on animals...:D

I would breed her if she's willing. She's going to drop a clutch either way soon so better make it worth it!

Hmmm...is not she too young?

Females can reach maturity as early as 6 months. If she is at a healthy weight and size, her colors are telling you she is going to be full of eggs soon. I would mate her and I've heard very similar advice from some of the pros.

I am off from work tomorrow and don't have much to do in the morning, except staring at the wall, so maybe I'll introduce her to the male and see what happens...
