Red Bar and Blue Bar Clutch Mate Buddies

Most people know this, but perhaps not everyone, that a single clutch of Ambilobes can produce both RB and BB babies. These guys are 3 months old and, although they may change over time, it is just interesting to see how different they're color can be. This pic is original and untouched (except for resizing it).

Well that explains why my guy is a red bar when I thought he would be a blue bar! So it's kind of like labs, one litter can have chocolate, yellow, and black? Interesting stuff.

But now that I think about it, my guy DID look like the one on the right when he was younger. But now at 7 months he is SUPER red-barred. They can't turn from this to blue, can they?

Maaan... I'm starting to think everyone has more colorful baby ambilobes than mine! lol He was tan until about 6 months. And look at yours! Three months and lovely already. Tisk tisk.

Nice photo, and really clear difference!

Every clutch seems to develop at its own rate. These guys hatched out the beginning of September.

I've had at least one Sambava boy that looked like a girl until he was 6 months old. Didn't even have a noticeable genital bulge.

This is not necessarily true if u have pure bloodlines and know the history of ur male and female then u won't have issues yes babies can look drastically diff from one another but turn out alot alike when their done getting their colors now if someone is messing with colors or is just careless and breeds a blue bare with a red bar female then yes there could be both in a clutch but if u look to c who sired ur female and who his sire was and the same with ur male but if u pay attention to bloodlines and breed blue to blue u shouldn't have random red bars popping out its science just like 2 white people don't make a black kid lol

Uh oh. The forums' favorite topic. But I do think that suggesting that someone is carelessly cross-morphing Ambilobes to Ambilobes is taking it to a new....er....level. Is it like when a blue eyed human carelessly marries a brown eyed human and end up giving birth to some children with blue eyes and some children with brown eyes?

I was not trying to be rude and carelessly was the wrong word to use all I was saying is that scientifically its only possible if u bred one kind of ambilobe to a diff kind if u bred blue to blue and u knew the liniage and did blue to blue you would not get red I'm just saying if u disagree that's cool just givein my opinion and sry if I came off like an ass
