so after reading some posts crediting the gorgeous colors of some veileds i decided to order waldo some. before i start using it i want all the knowledge out there testamonials advice, i am feeding pheonix worms and crickets everyday to my 4 1/2 month old 15-20 bugs a day small bugs, should i wet the worms so the powder can stick i was under the assumption that i needed no powder for them but for color and health purpose .....? i was doing the normal dusting of no d3 everyday d3 and multi 2x a month.

If you are feeding phoenix worms, which are super high in calcium, you do not need to dust them. You don't HAVE to dust with this every day, I use it at my best judgement, depending on what I'm feeding and what the individual animal needs. For example, when I give crickets (which have a poor calcium to phosphorous ratio) I dust them with this, but when I feed something like butterworms or phoenix worms which has more calcium, I will skip that day. And for my females I'll still give plain calcium once or twice a week instead, to make sure they're getting enough.

I know it sounds sort of daunting, and follow the every day instructions if you want, but you can use your best instincts if you feel you can trust them.

I feed my chams a mix of crix and silkies and hornedworms..for silkies and horned no dusting? Dust slightly?

i just wanna make sure that hes getting the right amount of all the vitamines since switching last week to pheonix ive been worried about that anyways.

I personally, don't dust any worms but my supers. And if I do anything to the others is inject them with liquid calcium for my girls, or something like that. But for the most part I leave them alone, because they're pretty excellent food items by themselves.

This is going to sound like a mess, perhaps, but this is what my schedule looks like on average.
I might do one day 3 med-largish hornworms one day
Then 1-2 Horns and 2-3 dusted crickets with the Rapashy
Then 4 crickets dusted with Rapashy
Then another 3-4 hornworms alone
Then 2 hornworms and 2-3 crickets dusted with plain calcium
...Etc. In a world where I only feed horns and crickets lol Which I don't, but I think it gives you an idea of my "schedule." I mix it up a lot and use my best judgement. I also dust some days with Dinofuel, for example. I count on mixing up feeder items, gutload, and different types of dusting options to keep things balanced according to what I think is appropriate.

It's a mess for people that are used to following a simple schedule every week! lol But it works for my group, they do well. But you could probably dust all your feeders if you wanted to, I don't think that's wrong either. It's just my opinion, though!

also i havent only given the pheonix each day i give him like 8 to ten then like 7 to 10 crickets so that i can give him dusted im so paranoid of mbd ive begun thinking it will be my fault if he gets it so i have to do it right... plus the stuffs supposed to make his colors really come out/ develope. should i keep doing that mixing them everyday? that way he gets a great mix? i switched to the pheonix because of the calcium reason for sure but i just dont wanna under supplament anything ya know.

oh wow

man lol that is alot i only have meal pheonix and crix on hand i havent ordered others yet because i fear there to big for my little guy. he only gts the meals once in a blue moon. have you noticed any differences since adding the repashy or have u always used it?

Small hornworms will be prefect, but you'll have to keep them in the fridge because they do grow quickly. Butterworms are also a good size, they're worth trying out. They can live in the fridge, so they last you a couple weeks. I started using the Rapashy about 2 months ago and like it a lot, but haven't noticed any dramatic differences in anyone. All of mine are full grown and they've always been very colorful, so there wasn't a dramatic change but they seem to be doing really well.

Here's what I've been doing I use the calcium plus on everything but the Phoenix worms so what I rotate on calcium plus is.....
Crickets
Dubia
Silk worms
Horn worms
These are all on a rotation throughout the week
Also through out the day I feed a few Phoenix works dusted in super load and when he gets the Phoenix worms he flashes his what I've dubbed his happy orange blue phase!

SandraChameleon gave me excellent advice on using this product. She says she does not use it every feeding. However, I suggest you contact her and see what she recommends. She has a blog on Repashy products and is very helpful.

I agree with Olimpia's statement: "use it at my best judgement"

What supplementation you use should be based on the type of feeder being offered, what it is you gutload that feeder with, and the nutritional needs of your chameleon (is it young or old, male or female (breeding or not breeding), healthy or sick, what species is it, does it go outside and get natural light, do you use good UVB tubes and when were they last changed, etc). The brand/type of supplement also matters, of course.

A chameleon that has a diet including a wide range of well gutloaded prey needs only supplementary supplementation. Using a product, any product, daily out of routine, without thinking about all of the stuff listed above, is not the way to go.

whereswaldo, as You dont say what type /brand of supplements you currently own and use; You dont say what, if anything, you are feeding the maggots (pheonix worms) before offering them to the chameleon; You dont say what you are gutloading the crickets with; You dont say what else you are using as feeders (I hope you arent just using the two types - a wide variety fo prey is preferable); and, You dont say if the chameleon is kept indoors, outdoors...
So its hard to give you a really useful answer.

Here are some links to info that may help you decide what is best in YOUR particular situation:

The Repashy calcium plus product is a good one, but it does not need to be used daily on every feeder.

For example, if you are offering a butterworm that was gutloaded with butternut squash, or a gutloaded terrestrial isopod, NO supplementation is necessary. If you were offering a properly gutloaded roach, you likely need very little supplementation except maybe a little calcium if these are a regular part of the chameleons diet. If you are offering a properly gutloaded cricket, you might use a little repashy some days, a little calcium (without vitamins) on other days. If you were offering a cricket you didnt gutload at all, Repashy is a good choice, most every time.

my gutload is bug burger im aorry i thought that i had mentioned that and for now really i am just offering thse i didnt know if butterworms were to big they looked like it online. i also give the vrix some collards and butternut squash little apple to from time to time and still keep calcium water crystals from flukers in with them and as far as the pheonix goes the packaging said it was packed in a high cal low phos. meal that it was better not to add anything. so i havent fed those i do give the meal worms squash too but he dont get those often, im not in need at the moment for worms or crix probibly by next week but when i do ill order some butters and small silk or horn worms depending on size. altho i doubt ill ever have access to very many feeders besides what i can keep alive ordered online. i live in a city and i know everyone sprays so wc feeders nah. to paranoid. so worms no dust cruckets dust. it is safe for each feeding though. thats what i got lol use my judgement, just hope my best judgement is right. he is my first.

I found this photo for you to get a size idea of butterworms: http://www.canadianfeeders.com/products/butterworms.html See that they can come quite small. And even full grown they're pretty manageable for most young chameleons, at least for mine.

And here are some small hornworms: http://www.smallpetfeeders.com/presta/live-hornworms/110-20-count-small-hornworm-pods.html
They won't stay small for long but they can be a good size as well. As can silkworms, they come very tiny as well. When in doubt, ask the vendors for photos, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to give you a size comparison photo.

I've been using this product since day one. I'm pretty new to chams as well and was pretty set on using the regular schedule that eveyones else uses with 3 different types of supplements but after talkin with Liddy at kammerflage kreations, I decided to go with this product and bug burger and cricket crack for my gutload. I dust my crickets and roaches everyday with it and haven't had any issues with any of my 3 chams. It def keeps me from having to remember which supplement to use on what day
