Need to get 12 large kritter keepers (or something similar! Any ideas??), a bottle of liquid calcium for a rescue crestie, a UVB light.. and some other random things.

Anyone know of any websites having sales? I always try to save money when possible. If anything I will go with LLL. :D:):D

Are those about the same size? What about ventilation? I don't have the required tools to make holes, etc. unfortunately. Last time I tried I ended up totally breaking 2 out of the 6 boxes. :(

buy a $10 soldering iron and melt in as many holes as you want. you can get cheap plastic tubs in just about any size.

Holes are pretty easy , can also take an ice pic, or anything else that won't melt with a sharp point, super heat it on the stove, and pierce it with that..

Tubs come in all sizes/ colors... they make cook ones with snap on tub lids that work great for dendrobates..

i had even seen someone using packing peanuts as a false bottom substrate to up the humidity levels within teh tubs.

funny what people figure out...

Great ideas guys, thanks. :) That should save me money, but it is so hard finding tall tubs! D'oh. :D

Bad Chad! :p

what are you using the tubs for? cresties?

also, a question, what tool do you guys using order to cut the tub so that you can put the screening in?

Yes, baby/juvie cresteds. The oldest are fighting with each other now and I don't want it to happen to the others.. :(

In this case I believe they are using holes as ventilation without need for screen.

DIY ghetto cage.

Buy a trash can with a locking lid or a hinge lit. (plastic)

Use a "tool" (plastic cutter, saw, etc.) to cut out a rectangle on one side(for viewing)
stab holes all over for ventilation.

and voila your done. The big side is optional, I just use it for viewing since I bought an opaque trash can.

I use this to keep phasmids.

Interesting. I would prefer to get clear tubs though, and that is where I am having a problem finding cages. Even though they are nocturnal they still need to have light come through somewhere in order to keep their cycle going.

Thanks for the ideas. :)

They have clear ones, I just bought an opaque one because I didnt want too much light to come in. It was just an office trash can, not one of those huge ones. A wrapping paper container would work well too.

I think that would be a little too tall if that is what I'm thinking of hehe. Well, will be looking around later, will let y'all know the results. :p

I got 12 shoebox tubs for 2.50 a piece at walmart.. used a wood burner.. that smell was terrible! Think I made the holes too big... Whoops. Definitely no FF's in those containers.
