Required UV tube

All,

I'm currently building my Diego Suarez a new enclosure that is 6' x 4' x 8' (w x d x h) and wondered what people's thoughts were on the UV tube to use...

Given the size and height of the enclosure, I am leaning towards a reptisun 10.0 (as the tube will be across the middle of the top and the basking spot at the front) ensuring the UV on the basking spot isn't too strong. I figure this will also give good penetration into the enclosure and provide good coverage throughout.

What are peoples thoughts?

Thanks

James

That would be fine, it's what I use and I use the standard 4' x 2' cages. The output isn't outrageous, especially if it's going through screen.

You may want to look into a couple 5000k fluorescent bulbs too if you're keeping plants in there. One or two of these is the only thing keeping my plants nice and alive if I use anything that needs a little more light, like ficus. I recommend those over the 6500k lights, however, that produce a very gray light. These are white but more natural, in my opinion.

Great, it's what I use for my yemen, but thought it might be over kill for my panther.

I have about 6 good daylight flourescents ready to go in (not all at the same time! Will probably use 3 across the top) as they are great for plant growth. I keep thinking about trying strip LED's around the bottom of the enclosure to stimulate growth lower down in the enclosure... Any thoughts?

position cfl grow lights across the top at angles, this will allow penetration past the top foilage and across the screen at an angle. Except for a small portion of the day plants get all of their light from angles.

I don't quite follow what you mean, but I plan to put the bulbs as follows across the top of the enclosure:

Does this look OK/like you meant?
