restless cham

She looks to be in decent health....a very pretty girl.
However, I don't like her enclosure and set-up at all.
Everything electrical should live on the outside of the enclosure and that ceramic heater is not only unnecessary but (as previously mentioned) potentially very dangerous.
Veileds need a temp drop at night (down to 65 degrees f. even 60 degrees is okay) and a basking spot to warm up in during the day (up to 90-95 degrees for an adult animal). And temps down to the lower 70's in cooler parts of the enclosure to allow the animal to thermoregulate. (20 to 25 degree differences in temps is (I imagine) hard to achieve in her current set-up)
Ventilation is of extreme importance for these animals as well....I prefer all screen enclosures.
There is definetely not enough space for her in that exo-terra terrarium.
She needs at least 3 feet of vertical space and at least 18 inches of width and depth.
I will leave it to others to talk about egg-laying requirements.
I suspect a degree of restlessness is due to her inadequate environment.

Agreed, this may be why she is on the floor there just simply isnt enough room for her to climb and move around... she does look good, however I cant believe she hasn't been injured on the lighting.... lucky for you guys... they are like children .. they will grab climb all over everything... you never know what they will or can do... first off create the larger enclosure, 18-24 wide and deep and 36 tall and then place a bucket of moist sand in the enclosure and decorate it as usual, only lights and stuff outside... then afterwards just monitor her activities and see if she wants to start digging or scratching again...

re-restless cham

hi again, just need some more info re my cham. As told when last speaking to you all i put her into a trash bin setup, however she just keeps trying to get out,i left her in for a week, fed her in there etc but in this time she showed no active signs of digging a hole. I have put her back into her usual enclosure, and during the day she displays the restless behaviour, not constant but intermittently, at these times i put her back into the trash can but again she does nothing. I am getting worried and its impossible to get a vet in this area who is knowledgable on any reptiles. It would mean a long drive to dublin (4 hrs) and i don't know if she would cope with this. Please advize me of my best approach. thankyou. I'll post a new picture tommorrow as she is sleeping now. thanks:(
