RO pump useable for misting system?

I don't rememeber if they have Ts and Ls, I know they will ahve plug-in T and plug in L.

Yes, I've helped them a bit with the site and the logo :)

Come on Marty.... that is a 'stem T' or 'stem L'.... and 'union T' or 'union L' :D

Union fittings have all female bits (female threesome). and the stem fittings have a male with two female bits (FMF threesome).... ;)

Dragging this up again, but what sort of pressure and flow rate would I need to run misting nozzles? I have some UK ones and I presume they're all the same, so what do you think I'd need!?

I found these: http://www.johnhewitt.com/pumps.htm but they're saying 4lpm which seems like a lot! I presume that is open flow, but is that the sort of thing I'm after if the mistking idea falls through?

They aren't all the same.......

BUT for the most part if you are using Tefon brand or the Mist King nozzles they are similar and a 1L a minute pump should have enough flow for quite a few nozzles.

I think Dave Weldon has dome some flow bench testing on the cream and red nozzles. Dave, can you share some of that data?

Judging by the photo that pump won't do... See the Mist King pump and that other pump you had shown are a constant running pump with a built in by pass valve. so even if flow is cut off the pump internally bypasses the pressure it is making..... with the pump in your link above, it won't work that way. Instead of a bypass valve it has a pressure switch that breaks the power to the pump when pressure is reached. these pumps are called 'on demand'. These pumps can be found on RVs and busses. This pump is good for that because when someone turns off the faucet or the toilet float valve is off the pump pressurizes the system till the preset switch is opened and the pump shuts off.... and won't turn on again until someone opens a faucet or flushes a toilet on the van. The pump turns on again because the pressure in the line drops.

Now for us when misting this won't work so well because the misting nozzles flow so little the pump will constantly be pulsing on and off as pressure is reached and then drops off again. I used to use one of these pumps with an accumulator. The pump would cycle on, fill the accumulator and then once the accumulator was low in pressure the pump came on and filled it up. This made the pump run on and off for longer periods of time with longer gaps between runs vs. the pump running directly to the nozzles.

When did it come to this...??? :p

Which one? I thought the top one, the "DP series" was another RO type pump so that would be fine? Will it not then? Just out of curiosity, how did you work that out from the limited information on that site?

Well, almost!!! :D

Just making it easier to visualize :D

From looking at the photo and the in the 'features' it says "pressure automatic switch". And like I said, I used a similar pump, so I know what they look like :)

Just an FYI
www.VivariumLand.com now has some starter systems available for sale in Europe. They don't have too many as this was their first "test" order. If you're thinking of buying one, I suggest gettnig it ASAP

Don't you worry! I managed to hold out and have been checking the website daily since Friday! I would have ordered but somethig went wrong with the checkout and my bill went from €192 to €763! :( Hopefully this will be sorted and I will be able to complete my order today!

I just did a test "buy" and it went through ok. Try it again and make sure that your cart is empty...when you start.

It's only when you get through the paypal bit! We've had regular correspondance today and we've worked out that the problem is the balance on the website (the 193€) is being converted to polish zl (I think that's what they are) but then are shown on paypal as Euros! If you just pay directly, without the automatic procedure, it all works great! Now I just have to wait! :( Im very bad at waiting!

Sweet! I've finally got it all sorted! The final bill was €217.40 ~ £200 including delivery! I got the starter misting set with seconds timer, 5 additional T nozzles and an extra L nozzle! Well chuffed!

I know this probably isnt as cheap as you Americans can get it, but its so much better than I could in the UK and it's not Marty's fault that the shipping from the states is so high! So this is a very happy medium!

I know! I'm dead happy! Think I got a bonus for being the first customer! :D

My only problem now is fitting it all to my giant enclosure! I cant move it without taking it apart which would seriously **** my cham off! I'm sure I'll get there though! I hope to have it up and running in a week! Well, hopefully, as delivery may take a while!
