RO water question

I've been running my RO filter system for six months now and I'm wondering if it's time I changed my filters and membrane. I bought a TDS tester and it's measuring 2 ppm, it used to be zero. IMO under 5 is fine for almost anything you can think of.

Reefkeeping and labwork require 0.

I’ve heard it argued that 0 TDS RO/DI can strip nutrients out of whatever is drinking it. So I removed my DI.

But, you’ll be replacing the filters soon. Buy them for when it rises a couple more points.

For the carbon and micron filters, change them when the appear dirty (I let mine get pretty dirty). The membrane is the one that you use TDS to determine it's health.

2ppm is fine. You're right though that the process strips needed minerals. I use RO in misters and foggers but keep tap water (66 ppm here) for my pumped drippers.
