rusted cage

some parts of my cage are starting to rust.
not the screen mesh but the frame.
what can i do to prevent this?
should i remove the rust and paint the frame?
give me some advice of what i can use to paint etc.

I know you can rub coke on it with a paper towel or somethin and it will get rid of the rust. As far as painting it I have no clue what you could use.

you could use steel wool to remove he rust. I buy aluminum cages, for this very reason.
