San Diego zoo

I went on a mini vacation today with the gf to our favorite place, the San Diego zoo. I was blown away by one new exhibit they had. I believe it was called the hummingbird aviary in the newer section they have been adding to. It was so well thought out and the plants and the way they had it all done just blew me away and I couldnt stop thinking about how amazing it would be to have some chameleons roaming free in their:) Anyone that can check it out, you wont be disappointed.

some pics that do NO justice to how it looks in person, and the tiny hummingbirds flying around and landing right next to you without a care in the world:)

I haven't been to that exhibit in a long time. Do they still have the feeders around? I remember being able to get the liquid on my finger and then, holding really still, having birds come hover in front of my hand and lick the nectar off my finger. It was beyond cool.

I sure miss the San Diego Zoo. I was a member there for years. I drove down from Mission Viejo at least 5 or 6 times a year. I fell in love with Koala's there. I still hope to be able to go "down under" just to hold one. That whole zoo is a treasure as far as I am concerned. i even have my name on one of the plaques'
as a donor all in my effort to hold a koala. None of my bribes worked!!!:(:( But I still love the place.:)

I still have pictures of at least 6 or 8 hummers eating out of my hand at my home in MV. I also love hummers.

I love the SD Zoo and Safari Park (Wild Animal Park). We get the year pass every year. Safari park also has the butterfly exhibit during the spring I believe. I'm gong to have to setup a little trip down to San Diego!:)

Cool. Lol in the butterfly exhibit, I had 3 huge white butterflies fly and land on my head....lol, prob the smell of my gel I use. Haha

That is one of my favorite exhibits as well. Wouldn't it be amazing if they had a chameleon exhibit just like that. I would imagine that would be impossible because of people. :( I've asked for a specific hummingbird feeder for Christmas since I like the little guys and gals so much. :)

was there last month..pretty awesome...i was dissapointed they didnt have a chameleon exibit anymore(they used to have panthers)..but i have some at home so i didnt miss much..but do love the plants they have there..:)

The wife and I would get our year passes and just pop-in at the safari park or zoo when ever... take a look at just a few exibits and leave agian..we would do that many times a year..WHY you ask!!???...#1 leave before it gets to crowded...#2 The safari park is just 10 min. from my house and the zoo is about 30..(just thought id rub that in... LOL LOL)

That is awesome. The Detroit zoo had something similar years ago but i have not been the in like 12 or 13 years. I guess I should take a trip there soon.
