Sansi 70W grow light - STACKING coupons!

Well, lied about my own thread. Just dawned on me while checking into the HLG quantum boards that everything I wants comes from amazon. So, I'll probably just got that route. Here's my outlook:

Plug picture 1 into picture two. Ta-da, enough light to make people wonder what's going on in there!

Simply put, buying the "put together" version for $100/ea isn't bad... but when I can string 4 together for the price of 2... well, I'm sold.

Unfortunately, I can't do the cool effects like cloud cover, sunrise, etc. as well as this specific driver being increments of 10% (and never 0%). But hey... it's cheap(er) and easy enough for me to handle!

Thanks to everyone for ideas/input!

Ummm, hang on and I'll grab you the other model. There are arduino based dimmers that can achieve what your after but it has to be the "b" version of the driver not "a". Little busy at work though so give me a bit.

All good. I too am at work. Appreciate your help. You are fairly local... can just come install it too... lol

I can help you if you need it yes lmao. So, are you planning on wiring them in series or parallel?

If parallel you can go one of two ways with the single connector off the driver. Either wire the four leads to the wire off the driver with wire nuts or use wago 221-415 to connect the five wires. If you go the wago route, go with wago brand not the knock off versions. This driver for parallel wiring, free shipping from this site and they usually do 10% off first order.

Same thing with series as far as wiring options. Wire nuts or wago 221-412 since you'll only have two wires connecting. Since you're getting into high voltage conditions with this way, I'd personally go parallel though.

You don't have to connect the dimming leads to anything but at least you'd have the option to add the arduino dimmer later for the effects should you choose to.

Parallel sounds more like what I'm after, so the "b" power supply.

You will need the 10v board added to the controller for the meanwell hlg series but, some additional coding (I have not dove into arduino reading much yet though) for clouds and what not. Comes setup for sunrise/sunset already though.
The 10V board I get since the controllers are 5v. But what's the difference in the hurricane and storm series?

Am driving home at the moment or I'd just look myself..

Two different companies. Storm is a little cheaper but doesn't include the housing, that is seperate. Has more built in sunrise/ sunset/ lunar schedule as far as I can tell.

Should add, the storm x actually has clouds and storms programming already. Forgot about that sorry.

No come back! Im interested in the storm/cloud cover stuff! I love the idea of Mistking’s which is along the same line

Well, basically after looking at the storm/x, the regular storm is what would be needed for the hlg dimming. It does have clouds, storms, ramp up ramp down (aka sunrise/ sunset).

To save going through the trouble of coralux direct...

Edit 2: reading the manual on the hurricaneX, it also does clouds and storms but has 16 controllable channels should you want to control that many lol.

I decided to go with the HLG boards to do cloud effects and such, but I did get some of these sansi bulbs off the lightning deals!!

They were on sale for $15/ea and I also got some of the 15W ones for $9/ea. Am curious to see how they turn out!

I probably should have asked before buying them, but can the Sansi 70W go on top of my chams cage? Hoping so.
If you hang it above, yes. Otherwise, if I'm not mistaken, they do put out some heat. Just make sure your chams dont stare at them, lol!

You could lift it enough for airflow between the viv and the fixture to prevent the heat from going right into the viv. I mean, it's not like halogen bulb hot, but its still enough heat to through off your basking temps.
