Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veided, male, told he was 3 months when bought but he is small . we have had him 2 month with problem for the last 6 weeks
Handling - not that ofton but he has had alot of handling due to vets trips eye drops etc..
Feeding - crickets, roaches, locost, calci worms a few silkworms but he doesnt seem to eat them that much (but hes not eating much at all) caught flies as he seems to wake up for these and chase around the cage

Supplements - we were only using nutrobal cal with d3, thought this was the problem so now using exo terra calcuim and then the other once a week ( this is recent)
Watering - misting three times aday also has dripper but he doesnt use it
Fecal Description - all looks fine was a bit yellow when he first closed the eye but is now white and brown but some times only the white comes out
Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? No
History - this happen three weeks ather we bought him and we had bark as substrate (now a bit of astro turf) took to vets he gave him a jab of pain relif and eye drops, was ok for a day then back to eye close, so then got anti inflammatory to give to him orally then he shedded a few day after and seem to been fine both eyes open and runing around cage again
1 and abit weeks later back to closing eyes

Cage Info:
Cage Type - exo terra vented glass 45 X45 X 90 CM
Lighting - exo terra uvb 13w 5.0 coil in the hood exo terra daylight spot was 70w got a 100w now as we thought he may of been to cold

Temperature - not able to measure to well but basking is 90 ish cage is 85 lower cage is abit cooler (again this was slightly cooler before but was no different) night goes down to 70
Humidity - this goes down to 50 up to 80 after misting
Plants - no
Placement - cage is in a low traffic area 2m away from a window open most of the day, cage is 3ft of the floor
Location - uk

Current Problem - sat in middle of cage alday with eyes closed and only opening one occasionally not eating like he should, he does have a spurt of energy every now and then

do you see your chameleon drinking at all when you mist? His eyes could be closed due to dehydration. They do look a bit sunken too. Most people keep their cage temps in the 70's and basking in the low 80's. Your overall cage temp is what most people's basking temps are. Maybe he is too hot and dehydrated.

as said the temp was lower and he was the same he does drink off the glass and with his nose he was like this then shedded then was fine now back to this

stools are nice and white so I cant see he is dehydrated unless this can be fine and still be dehydrated

Do you mind taking a pic of how you measure temps especially for the basking spot? I dont see a exoterra giving you that wide of a temp range.

1.With urates being white, your misting three times a day that cuts the animal being dehydrated which would have been my first guess. What are you doing about water pooling at the bottom? How long are you misting for?

2. Dry air without misting can cause the eyes to become irrated like dry eye we get. But you have stated you mist three times a day and humidity is 50-80 so this cant be.

3. Illness. Whether it is from the over supplementing of d3, organ failure or infection. Since 1-2 arent a possibility. This is more than likely where the issue is. Vet viisit for your cham is needed.

In the second photo in particular his left wrist looks swollen and there is a black dot on it...is it ,my imagination? If it is swollen it could be gout or an infection. Might be worth taking it to the vet's.

We did have problems with the bark holding alot of water so we got rid of that so pooling is down, he Will be going to vets today what should he be giving us

i think 100w bulb for basking is to much , 90F would be more suited for an adult .
i see that you mentioned no plants in the enclosure. you dont have any kind of plant in there ? fake or real? where does the dripper drip ?
can you post a pic with the entire enclosure ?
this could be over supplementing with d3 .
when he developed that black dot on his left wrist ?

Yes does have some fake plants stuck too the glass one near basking area one near uvb other side of viv also have a bamboo root as well as vines

the light was sold to us to wake him up as they thought the viv may habeas been to cold due to room temp being low

the black spot has been there 2 maybe 3 weeks
he also got one on the chin but this has gone away

we took mushy our cham out of the viv today and force feed him as we are now book to see vet tomorrow and he hadn't been eating well last few day

I notice the lower part of the eye sockets bought sides looked purple in colour like bruising to us

any Ideas im really leaning to infection now

he has just spent a weekend at the vets

both eyes back open still got to do his eye drops as he may still have stuff in there

we have changed the lay out of the viv wildly while he was gone we have gone for no subs at all and got him a live plant ( this was hard to fine one safe and right size for the viv)
also blanked a side off as well as the back that was already a rock wall

his now back home drinking like made and just turn dark dark brown pruple

is he just not happy and scared do you think

I would say he has probably had a traumatic weekend and to top that his home has been revamped. I would give him time to settle. Its good that he is drinking. Any sign of being hungry yet? Thank goodness he has you to look after him.:)

he ate a waxworm plus a slikworm as soon as they were placed in the viv with him

oh he also had a parasite very common one to but could of also been bringing him down

as you can see straight on the new live plant
