Scared of misting

Hi everybody I need some help I have a small male Jackson's chameleon and everything I mist his enclosure he goes and hides like he is scared of the water and I noticed that his urate was kinda orange today.

My Jaksons' Chameleon would do the same too. Instead of directly misting him, try this - Get some warm water (not scolding hot) in a misting bottle and start with spraying down the cage (leaves, vines etc.)

Slowly start having some drops fall on his tail and eventually start working up his body. He might still want to scurry way the first few times. Do this for a few days and eventually it should do the trick and you chameleon gets used to the water.

If he gets used to it (like how my chameleon is), he'll like getting misted and will lap up drops of water that fall on his lips. Once you notice that, get some water on his lips and move the misting to his body so that he has a chance to lap up the water and then move up to his lips and repeat cycle. My chameleon tends to maneuver whatever part of body he wants wet to the spray. If he wants his right side sprayed, he will turn it to the water, if he wants his throat to be sprayed, he'll lift his head.

During all this, your chameleon should also do that funky thing with his eyes. He's cleaning them. I don't know how to describe it but when you see it you'll know.

Make sure not to spray too much water onto his face because you don't want it going into his nostrils.

Its not an overnight thing to get his used to water but stay patient and initially keep misting only a few seconds and eventually increase durations if he likes it.

also a dripper might help you to get his hydrated. get water to drop on leaves and trickle down.

Good luck!

maybe try a drip system i used it and i dont think he likes misting anymore so i dunno if should switch back. just letting you know
