im currently building my adult cage for my veild and I want to get large plants. I have devils ivy for the living wall along with a hibiscus. I bought a Schefflera arboricola from home depot (its listed as a Schefflera arboricola on the tag) but the leaves have a natural yellow coloring mixed in with the geen on them. I have looked it up for weeks and I cant figure out if its ok for my little guy, I know Schefflera arboricola is on the safe list. But I have only seen them being only green in pictures on this forum. Hopefully someone can help explain if there is a difference! thank you

yes it is the same plant and is safe for them. yellowing of the leaves is due to under watering of the plant, crappy soil or lack of sunlight. show it some plant love and should be back to green in no time.

Yellowing of the leaves is either caused from over or under watering of plants. For your plant I would look at the soil to confirm if the oil is overly dry or moist. However Schefflera arboricola is a plant that sometime has natural yellow color along with the green on the plants leaves.

The variegated form has yellow in some of the leaves. The edges and some entire leaves are yellow. could also be a watering issue.

I already changed out the soil with organic rinsing down the roots and the leaves to prep it for his cage. I did notice the bottom leaves that looked new were completely green. I just want to make sure its not a different kind of schefflera that's poisonous because my little one likes to munch on plants. I can see where it could have been a watering issue but I will still post pictures tomorrow just to be safe

I have 2, one is pretty much all green and one has yellows mixed in with the greens. Nothing to do with the plant's health, some just have those colors.
