hi

my chameleon is scratching his eye quite a lot on leaves and branches he then closes his other eye for around 5/6 secs. i think he is starting to shed his skin, would this cause him to do this or could it be something else?

Cage Info:
Cage Type - AX22 Vavarium
Lighting - Lucky Reptile Bright Sun UV Jungle
Temperature - 85-95 in basking and 70-80 at bottom
Humidity - i spray the vavarium twice a day, but i don't have anything to measure this
Plants - benamin fig and some plastic
Location - it has 4 air vents in back and is positioned on a table so the top of the cage is around 6ft high

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veiled, male and 3 days
Handling - i have not handled yet as want to make him settled first
Feeding - locusts and crickets i put around 6/7 twice a day. i am gut loading with carrots and gut load formula.
Supplements - nutrobal and calypso
Watering - i mist 2/3 times a day and he drinks the water from him and leaves
Fecal Description - pale clean green occassional darker spots but only rarely
he has not been tested for parasites
History - only had 3 days
Current Problem - scratches his eye on leaves and branches and then closes eyes for long spells

mine did this too. it went away soon. she might b trying to shed skin on/around eyes.
boost up humidity and get a hydrometer. if it persists, tell us.

ok any tips on humidity, i spray water in 2/3 times a day
should the water be warm?

what can i get to monitor humidity, i do have 2 thermoeters

In my experience, warm water is way better. Even my chams that don't like to be sprayed let me spray them if I usa hot water. When the water mists, it cools so don't worry about using hot water. Just not boiling... :p

My chams always rub their eyes when they first start to shed, or shed around the face. Hope this helps.
