Screen cage

Hi everyone, I'm new to the chameleon world. I've always had reptiles and been fascinated with the chameleons and so I bought a baby Veiled. Right he or she is in a small tank, I did buy a Zilla screened cage. I live in Wisconsin, so my room is little cold so should I still set up the screened cage or would it be to cold?

I'm still waiting to complete my setup before getting mine, but here's what I have found out so far by asking on here. There's some form like thing that you fill out that has all the information people are going to ask you. I don't know where it is, but someone will point it out.

Room temp shouldn't matter as long as you have a good heat lamp for them to bask. What size tank is it? And by tank, do you mean aquarium?

I would set up the cage now and get things going towards that. You might have to buy bigger UVB lights, depending on how big the cage is.

As long as your room doesn't go below 60 over night your cham will be fine. Don't get a night heat lamp because they need complete darkness, if your still worried about it being to cold in the screen cage you can get a space heater. From all I've read everyone always says to get cham in screen cages ASAP so I would recommend setting up your screen cage.
Hope this helps.

Zach.

I would agree a screen enclosure would be best for a veiled chameleon. Like was said unless your temps drop below 55-60 degrease don't worry about your house temps the chameleon will benefit from the cool down. As long as you have a basking source for your cham to regulate his/her temp you will be fine. If by some chance your temps do drop below 55-60 degrease you can get a inferred ceramic heat admitter for night time temps, but like was also said don't use the red heat bulb no matter how much the pet store pushes it. It will keep your cham up at night, and cause more harm than good. Good luck I hope this helps:)

Good start! For your Cham to be happy and feel safe he/she will need more foliage and some sticks to perch on. Good luck with your new friend!
