screen tent as outside cage

We just set this up today to test it. So far it looks good and it's very easy to set up.
All we needed to do to make it chameleon proof is weigh down the bottom flaps, as our cat demonstrates in the second photo :)

Hi,

I've had the same idea, but there's one big problem with those tents: They aren't so stable when it's high windy. I've made some tests a similar model cause I planed it as an nice melleri cage, but it doesn't work very well

Maybe you can save it so good that you don't get those problems, I hope it :)

Yeah, I've thought of that too. Until it's been through some serious rain and wind, and survived it, I'm not going to leave the chams in there all the time. Just during the day when I'm home.

This might take some time, but have you thought about sewing fabric on the bottom? This would protect it from insects that may find your chameleon to be a nice host, and possibly infect it, and it would also prove insurance to ensure there are not any future excapes.

I've also had that idea, I think it's awesome!!!! I'd just check on it often. And yes figure out how to get the bottom to stay down.

The cage is currently held down along all sides with pieces of wood (2x4's). As for adding an actual floor to the tent; I am considering that. I may just put a tarp underneath it next time.

Just wanted to update this real quick. The tent is holding up great so far. It has weathered quite a few thunderstorms, but not any seriously strong winds yet. I still haven't left any chams in it for more than half a day because I don't have a misting system hooked up to it yet.
So I'm still pretty happy about it.

misting system

Make sure you put the electronics in a weatherproof box if they are outside or perhaps if you get one of the pro systems you could just run the line out of the house...humidity is an electronics killer, it may take a while but it will eventually fail from it...

That was been considered. I'll probably just use a garden timer and a drinkwater safe hose to get the water from the house to the cage. We actually also use a garden timer for our indoor misting system.
