Chameleon crazy

At the pet store they have two chameleons. They are $60 each and their body length it probably 1 inch! Are they allowed to sell such small chameleons?(I'm in Michigan)

I bought my 2 babies at about an inch and 1/2 from the pet store for $25 each. They only sell ones that are about 3 - 4 months for $60.

they charged me 60 bucks for my baby, guess that what they can get. breeders dont charge that much, unless well its a special breed(AZOG).

I given up rescuing chameleon from pet shop now. The chameleons are always in bad condition when I found them. The next thing I know, I bought them to end their misery in the pet shop. They were in such bad condition they are ready to die. No point saving them anymore. 2 weeks ago a local pet store get in 2 adult Meller chameleon. They were in excellent health. Then I notice that they were kept in a 60 gallon "GLASS"Tank!!! OMG!!! When I look at the temperature, it was 95'F. I told them that the chameleon won't live for a week. They claim that they are such a good reptile keeper that my concern is nonsense. Last week, I went back again, TAAADAAAA.... both Meller Died!!

yeah on one hand you want to save the chameleon from bad pet store conditions, or from oblivious reptile buyers( oh daddy, i want that lizard its pretty! ) you get my point, cuz anyone who does the due diligence in research needed before buying one of these animals, know not to buy one from a pet store.

and then on the other hand, you dont wanna give the store any excuses to buy more animals they know nothing about, but to make money with. kinda like a catch 22

i just stop going in to pet stores, and if i do and see a chameleon getting bad treatment, i shove it up the owners ass that im a pita member and gonna have a swarm of activists protesting if they dont discontinue poor chameleon husbandry. muahaha!!!!

I've got quite a few problems with the pet store trade (in general)
I strongly encourage people to get their animals
directly from the breeder and not from anything below than a speciality
reptile store that breeds its own stock.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a city where there's advanced herpers.
Some reptile store workers have enough experience and
background knowledge to know what they're actually talking about.
Sadly that's the exception... most are underpaid clerks that don't know jack.
They only need to keep things alive long enough to sell in a week or two.
