Professor Snape is just a few months old. If had him for maybe a month now. This morning I found him on the bottom of the cage. He has never gone there. His eyes were closed and he was not hanging on to anything. I picked him up and after skittle I got him to grab a branch. He seems weak. Everything in his cage is were it needs to be. Water dropper, temp, crickets, and plants. I was told he might be dehydrated. So I started misting more. Sadly I had to come to work and my husband is monitoring him. I can't tell if he eats. Sometimes I find a cricket head on the bottom of the cage which I was hoping ment he is eating. Any suggestions as to things I can do to help my little guy out? Sorry if this is sloppy typing or misspelled words I am desperate so I typed this on my phone. Thanks ahead of time!

I am sorry he passed away. If you are interested in getting another chameleon, please fill out the form the other member above asked you to fill out. That way we can see what your set up was like and if it contributed to your chameleon's death, so it won't happen again. Often times people are given advice on the care of particular animals and it is incorrect, especially if you buy from a pet store..

Thank you so much I will fill this out. I loved having Snape and would love another chameleon I have not got another one because I was afraid. But I am ready now thank you so much.

Thank you sorry it took a while to respond. Coming on here and seeing the Chameleon faces made me so sad.

I'm very sorry you lost your little chameleon.

Aren't Senegals all wild caughts? Wild caughts are really hard to keep alive and get to thrive. Most die before export and then most probably die within a few months after being imported, even in the hands of experienced keepers. Wild caughts are not a good choice for a novice, that's for sure.

If you are getting another chameleon, please look for a species that is forgiving with their requirements and try to buy from a breeder. A veiled or a panther seem to be quite adaptable and pretty straight forward to keep. Don't buy a little tiny baby which is more delicate with very little margin for error if you get the environment/humidity/supplementation wrong. Also, buy a female. Egg laying is just such a problem and ultimately shortens the animal's life.

Thank you for your knowledge. I had not planned to get the Senegal. When I went to the pet store with my friend we both fell in love with him. I then read everything I could on the type that I had bought. I always read on things before I jump into anything I love doing research. Just so happen I did this backward first buying Snape then reading about them. I an defiantly going to try for a more common one next time.

I want another Chameleon but I am not sure what to do with it if I go on vacation for 7 days. Misting and what not any ideas would help. If I cant figure it out I wont be getting one till I return.
