Seriously?

The nearest vet is an hour away. When I asked if they handled chameleons, the receptionists response was nhold on, I'll go check.....yup! He does!" This is NOT very comforting. I'm afraid I'm going to need to go even farther away from home. BUT last time I traveled with Ezra, he did NOT stay in the box. He crawled out on top of my rearview! Is it worth taking him to the vet if it's going to be a 4 hour car ride for him?? Would the stress be too much??

Well it depends on what you are taking him for? How ill is he? You have to weigh out which is more important.

I would re contact the first vet. My vet is very good with my chams but some of the receptionists have no clue lol.
They are not all that common and vets draw from many paths of experience. For all you know this guy grew up with chams and his front desk just doent know.
JMO:)

well that would be up to you then. I would try and find a vet that would do a fecal without seeing the cham. Any vet can do a fecal. That would be one of my concerns, that he was parasite free. Personally, I would not drive 4 hours, spending gas and the stress on your chameleon if he is not sick. That is just my personal opinion. you say you found him? can we see pics of him?

I'm gonna have to agree with Hoj on this. Just cause the receptionist is clueless doesn't mean the Doc is.

Hoping this works! Can you see him? HE'S SO CUTE!!!!!!

Just to repeat what was said. I would try to talk to the vet over the phone to get an idea of his personal history with chameleons and reptiles.

Thirding (or fourthing?) that....you really don't know what the situation is with the receptionist. She might be there from a temp agency covering for the regular person or it might be her first week (or month...it could be a long time between chameleons). I would ask to have the vet call so you could ask about his experience with chameleons.
