Set up stuff...

Welcome to the forum- you may have a problem with your fogger clogging - I think you mentioned hard water in a different thread- I have very hard water and used to put the water I use in my humidifier through a britta - I think it clogged less - I ended up having to get a new fridge and it has it's own filter so I've be using water from there instead-
I had a monsoon mister that broke in a month and the misting heads were constantly clogging up- but I've had no problems since I got an aquazamp- except the one time I ran it dry - then I just disconected the tubes to the sprayers and re primed the pump -

My panther wasn't excited by phoenix worms - he loved silkworms but I know that others had problems knowing that they were food at first (ridgebax1 has one of the best pictures I've ever seen with his baby looking like he was going to keep his worm as a teddy bear) there are some great instructions on getting silkworms to make more- blue bottle flies are one of my chameleons favorites and when my Jackson was small she loved stapple flies-

When I replaced my lights at 6 months I went with "Light my Reptiles" and replaced all my blubs with Arcadia - they last longer the t8's fit regular tube fixtures and after my problems with my monsoon and the basking bulb that burned out in a day I trust them more - at some point I'm going to replace all with high output fixtures- but I'm up to buying for 3 -and my husband needs to finish the the chameleon room first-

Oh my, that's a lot of great info!! Thank you so much! So the light my reptiles lasts longer...that's the basking bulb, correct? I'll likely update to a nice mister in a while, but for now, hand misting isn't much of an issue. blue bottle flies sound fun....but what if they get out?! haha, I hate flies with a bloody passion xD

Oh! Something I meant to ask earlier...i have a cat. She's gentle and all that, but definitely curious. Will he stress too bad if she just watches him at times? He'll be in my room for now, which she rarely goes into, but I just don't want it to stress him out TOO bad.

"Light my Reptiles" sells all kinds of bulbs- I use just a regular bulb (from home depot) for my basking but use the Arcadia tube bulbs for UVB lights -sorry I wasn't really clear- the ones they have for tubes replace the zoomeds 5.0's and last 9 months - they have much fancier fixtures too -
I don't pretend that I don't lose a fly here and there - I hatch them in small quanities and stick them in the freezer for a min before letting them loose. I also like to watch my husband run around with a fly swatter though- his eyes spin and he changes colors just like Chumley my panther. I get them from mantisplace.com -

My cats don't really bother the chameleons they do sometimes show interest in the crickets- I suggest securing your cage so that there is no way it can be knocked over and keeping the cat out of the room when your not home - one of the biggest dangers is them jumping on top of the cage because it's a nice warm high place. I can't imagine that wouldn't cause stress. I've seen them eyeing the spot when they follow me around. My chameleons don't seem to notice if one of the cat s walks by or watches his cage for a cricket walking around. Some cats are more of a problem-

Sounds like a good setup to me :) I've tried bamboo before, and my veiled hated it. He couldn't get a grip on the smooth surface. He held tight to it and wouldn't move until I gave him my hand to step onto. It may work better if you sanded it so that it was a rougher surface as suggested above.

Yay! Thank you all so much!! I'll have to check those lights out!!! A UVB lasting longer is fine in my books ;D Yeah...the cat likes to knock the crickets over...so I may just have to do roaches. those she shows zero interest in. She prefers my snake cages for warmth, but not the tall one, so I think I'm okay there. She just sits and stares at the snakes, though. Especially when they're eating...She's a goofy one. I may hold off on the bamboo, didn't think about the slippery-ness. But I'm going plant hunting tonight so there's a mix of real and fake ^-^ Anyone know if Creeping Charlie is okay?
