Setup in front of cage

Hi everybody,

My veiled is going on 4 months and he has a 16x16x30 in ReptiBreeze cage. He seems to be walking about fine and has his basking moments. Winter is coming and since I can't take him outside, I'd like to be able to set up a couple of plants in front of his cage for him to walk about in. Don't like the idea of him cooped up in there all winter.

I'd like to know how important it is for a chameleon to be let out of his cage. Is it okay if they are comfortable inside it most of the time? I understand is better for them to be able to roam outside of it, but I'd like to know if it's necessary for them to be able to.

I would also like to know what kinds of indoor plants are good to get for him. One that will survive at least most of winter indoors and something tall. I am planning on getting a ficus but heard they need a lot of care for them to survive.

I have some setup ideas but any pictures that can be shared would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's okay to leave him in his enclosure, however at his age you should be considering getting a larger one 2'-2'-4'. I would suggest a ficus for free ranging just be careful not to over water it, and try to get it near a window for sun light you should be fine.

Thanks! Sounds good. I'll look into upgrading his cage.
