she layed eggs

Ok my Janis has layed some eggs, although she has never been with a male. I have heard that you can still hatch without breeding. So what do i need to do to care for the eggs. Also, is there anything special that I need to do for here. She hasn't been doing so good latley and she has mbd. So i think that the eggs have caused her health to drop so bad latley. I will appreciate any responses.

Thanks

If she has never been mated the eggs are not fertile.
C. calyptratus are not parthenogenetic.
She may need to go to the vet, if she has MBD laying eggs has robbed her body of calcium that she really needs.
The vet may be able to give her an injection to boost calcium levels and help her recover from this.
Did she dig a burrow?
How many eggs?

The eggs aren't fertile. If she has NEVER been with a mature male, it can't happen. Also, what you heard is a bit skewed. You can have 2 or 3 or 4 clutches from one breeding. So technically the female hasn't been with the male, but retained sperm. Also, I would make sure you give her calcium w/o d3 with her crickets for the next few days. You also stated she had MDB, did she get it before being gravid?

What does parthenogenetic mean?

ok she layed 32 eggs and she was sooo weak she couldn't bury them. We have been trying to reach the reptile specialist in our area and they won't return our calls. Im so worried because I love her very much. I have been interested in getting more but I have been worried about bad breeding because I think that is what happened to Janis. Do you happen to know a good place to order chameleons?

MBD is caused (most likely) by bad husbandry, not bad breeding.
Did she have it when you got her?
Where is she from?
Please describe how you keep her.
Before you think about getting more chameleons, you should make sure you are properly taking care of the one you have.

What does parthenogenetic mean?

You can't Google it?

The term refers to females in species that can produce young/viable eggs without a male.
It is most often found in species of invertabrates (ie: many types of phasmids) and some vertebrates (most recently Komodo Dragons)

Thanks Brad, you read my mind.

She is in a 3ft by 4ft wide screen cage. She has a uvb light, basking light, and a infared. She has many vines and sticks climb on. She has a very higrade fountain. I got her from a local pet shop, but since her they have not ordered anymore from that breeder. She said that the last of them (the next order after janis) and they both were very poor. Also, what is bad husbandry?

Whats your supplementing schedule?

Oh, I switch it up with her crickets, when she eats them, I have been having to force feed her. As for the calcium water 3-4 times daily.

I give her an alternate between silkworms (which that has been s little bit) mealworms, buter/waxworms-which are high in clacium. Yet, I give her only a few because they can gain too much work. It is time to order her silkworms. I swich it up daily:cricket mealworms or silkworms butterworms., but she doesn't have much of an appetite.
