Hello everyone, I have a panther chameleon, male 1year old, very healthy and active, correct housing, lots of branches etc humidity spikes. I have only had him long enough to witness two sheds, each happened two months apaprt, he is now due on that basis now, last two times he looked a little off colour- normal- started peeling and skin was cleanly off with two to three days- casque went pale so i knew he was imminent. This time one foot peeled- on monday- tuesday another foot and a bit of tail (today wednesday eve) but still was fairly active , today he has been at back of viv, hasnt moved all day, nothing else is peeling, he is kind of bright in himself- looking around but just not moved- I expected to se a natural increase in peeling skin but the flaky bits from the last few days have gone, and nothing new has begun. I've read that shedding is a tough time so is this normal? Humidity is good, he has natural plants and I've been spraying viv. I'd really be grateful for any words of advice. He is everything to me and cant bear to see him looking so sad( remembering that panther chams look sad at the best of times but i'm sure you know what i mean-He Is called Mr Jolly! ) He eats well, drinks well from a big dripper, has supplements, is incredibly friendly, not stressed, no new changes in his life. Attached pic of his viv, live plants, uv light etc Please help !

He's probably fine, but possibly a bit distracted by the impending shed. Adult chams often start shedding in odd places like a foot, the tail, etc. They don't always shed quickly all at once, and its also possible he didn't actually shed those areas previously. Has your room or cage humidity level dropped? Sometimes drier conditions can slow the shed down. As long as he's eating, drinking, and acting normally I wouldn't worry too much. Have you ever given him a gentle warm shower? Increased misting? Might help.

Just a bit more info about Cham but more help needed!

Hi all, thank you very much for taking the time to reply, he has been at back of viv all today and all of yesterday, hasn't moved a bit, he definitely had a perfect shed last time, I watch him like a hawk and spend a lot of quality time with him, I made sure all came off naturally, down to fingernail skin, he hasn't shed and I've somehow not noticed, he's not eaten his skin and hasn't shed anymore at all, only feet and tail, humidity is good, it isn't that he is having trouble getting the skin off it is simply that no skin is coming off, if I didn't know better I wouldn't even know about him shedding, his skin doesn't look any different, four days ago he was his normal self so no environmental changes have affected him, everything is normal for him, I cant understand what is happening. Please help and tell me if this is normal, he looks so miserable.

Well, its either something in his immediate area that might be intimidating him (so he's trying to stay invisible in the cage), or there's a health issue emerging. If his environment (lighting, temps, humidity, views from his cage, etc) have not changed, then we'd need to rule out a health issue. Could you please find the sticky message at the top of this forum titled "How to Ask For Help" and answer the questions as specifically as you can. Details such as brands of products, lighting models, frequency of dusting, gutloads, etc. so we can try to find out what's going on.

Hi Carlton, thank you for your help, I filled out the Cham questionnaire and hope that helps, now just praying for some more points of view as to whether his is normal behaviour or not. Many thanks
