Hello everyone my little guy started shedding today for the first time since I have gotten him. I was starting to get a little worried about him because he was acting strange the past couple days. Yesterday he didn't eat any of the crickets I put in the cage for him, but he did eat the few meal worms I put in. Then again this morning, same thing. Also the past couple of days, especially in the morning after his first mist of the day he would open his mouth and sort of wheeze so I was thinking 'oh no, URI' but there was no signs of mucus or any other symptoms and I really only noticed it just after a mist and usually just in the morning. Since he started shedding (mid-morning today and all of a sudden) I haven't noticed any of that, and this evening the crickets were gone! I think he is tired though, I did peek in on him this evening to see how the shed was going and he had his eyes closed. Is that normal with a shed?
He looked freaky for a while because the skin around his eye shed off but must have stuck a little so there was a bunch of skin that moved around when he would move his eye. I increased mists and tried not to bother him too much. Unfortunately I am house sitting/dog watching tonight so I can't check on him personally again till morning but is there anything else I can do for him? When I left it looked like his legs and tail still needed some work but he was rubbing against the branches so I think he should be good by morning. I'm excited to see if perhaps some of his pattern will pop out now! This is my first chameleon and I am just so excited about everything! (Still haven't settled on a name, it is proving to be a REALLY hard decision... I am leaning towards Oscar ) Here are some pictures!... most of my pictures came out blurry but here are a couple, plus one I think is funny.
