Shedding

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums but did a lot of research from here to help me get the knowledge I needed to be confident to get my first chameleon. Anyway I need help with the issue of shedding, I only got my chameleon 5 days ago from a private breeder, he started to shed 2 days ago but still has little bits left over his body and the majority off his head. I've read that most baby chameleons usually shed in a day? Or are there some that just take longer? I just don't want things going bad early on. Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks

From what I have read sometimes they can shed piecemeal and what I have seen recommended is nice long warm showers. Put a plant in your tub/shower then put the chameleon on the plant. The point the shower head so it hits the wall and the mist will bounce back on the to chameleon. Leave him in the mist for 15 minutes or so. That should help loosen the rest of the skin. Resist the temptation to pull it off as you could rip his skin if it is not ready to let go. That is really hard for me cause I am a picker:D. I have rubbed gently if a piece is stubborn but never pulled at it.

Adults shed in pieces, not babies.

Most likely this occurred because you need to mist more and you need to raise your humidity (which normally happens when you mist regularly)

How often are you misting?

and for how long?

Wow, that's a great idea! I'd never thought of that before. I'll be recommending this to my neighbour.

She needed some tips on ways to help her cham lose those pesky pieces of shed. :D
