Shedding

So i have a 4 month old veiled chameleon, and I need to know how long it should take for him to shed. Last time I saw him shed it took him about 6 hours, which I read is not healthy, so I helped him by removing the rest of the shed off the end of his tail by using a wet Q-tip, but I need more advice.

Ummm no. 6 hours is perfectly fine, and it may take more than a week for an adult to shed... Leave him/her alone.

He is not an adult, and it said babies should take about 15 minutes, which now I do not believe.

Well I'm predicting 4 months but if that's not specific he is about 8" long.

If he is the one in your pfp, 6 hours is a VERY fast shed time for a cham his age...

6 hours sounds fine for a cham his size...

I think what you read about the 15 minutes are for babies, as in tip of your finger babies, not juveniles like yours.

Chameleons are dry shedders. Misting them directly when shedding can actually make the skin harder to shed. Also, unless there’s shed constricting a foot or tail, never pull it off.

Just curious. Where did you read 15 minutes?

Chams will take longer to shed as they get older. Adults can take weeks to finish shedding.

I found it on this website online: https://www.chameleonschool.com/cha...leons shed their skin,within 15 minutes or so.
I wasn't really sure of his age and how to determine his size to his age.
