Short tongue after vet visit

Advice? After taking my cham to the vet today his tongue is barely coming out of his mouth. They did open his mouth to check for a RI. Has anyone had this happen? He is still eating but has to be like an inch or less away or else his tongue doesn't reach his food. I'm guessing it's just from having his mouth messed with?

Yeah, very gently and slowly but they had to to look in his mouth :/

If they pulled on the tongue which is down in the pouch under it's chin they might have bothered the tongue apparatus.
Sometimes my questions may seem trivial...but there's a reason I ask.

That's kinda what I thought but since I'm so new at this I thought I'd get some more advice and help
