Should I hold my Chameleon?

Hi! I’m Maddy! I’ve owned my Veiled Chameleon Pickles for about 2 months now, and he’s never let me hold him(I haven’t tried to forcefully hold in anyway) he never hisses when hands are in his cage but he’ll move away from my hands. He will hiss though when I try to feed him with tongs(I use the cup method)my Mom is worried that he will grow up and become aggressive and is begging me to hold him so he’ll become more friendly(I don’t believe in forcefully holding him which is why I made this thread because I’m confused)so the question is: should I attempt to hold him? Please help!!

I'm not able to give advice on how go about making him more open to handling, I do however, believe that it would help others who reply, to indicate how old he is and the location of his cage in your home, as both can affect a chameleon's behavior. Lucked out with the two chameleons I have owned and both have preferred to be outside of their cages and on people, rather than stick inside the cage.

He is 3-4 months old and is located in my room as it is mostly quiet and is the quietest place in the house

I recommend you leave his cage open for awhile and do something in your room that way he can come out on his own terms, this almost always works especially with the little boys. patience is key and if it doesn't work the first time you can try hand feeding and slowly getting him used to your hands.

Thank you!! I’m gonna try this tomorrow since I’m out right now!
