Shy?

I have a baby veiled and he is about 4 months old. He is in a 4 foot by 4 foot by 2 foot cage. I put the crickets in the location where he hands out so he can see them. He is aware they are moving because he follows them with his eyes. He is very skiddish around me and I walk in the room one time and saw him like stalking them, moving slowly toward them. Should I put them in a deli cup and sit it next to him to ensure he is eating

I would leave some free in the cage so he can hunt and put some in the cup so you can ensure he is eating. Crickets do tend to hide and he might not be able to find them.

Maybe try smaller crickets if they are large also leave some in a cup when you not around and see if he will take them make it easy for him to access and not clear sided

Some chameleons don't like to eat in front of people but they are skilled hunters. If you put them in and leave he will most likely hunt them down while your not looking.

Yes they feel vulnerable drinking and eating so they prefer to do it when there's no predators to see. And us being so big that includes us.
